What's in Franklin
Franklin is the online catalog for all the Penn Libraries, with the exception of the Biddle Law Library, which has its own separate catalog, called LOLA.
* What is in Franklin? *
* *
* *
*Over 98% of the Library collections.
*Cataloging records for all types of library materials (books, serials, journals, some e-journals, newspapers, conference proceedings, sound recordings, video recordings, computer files).
*Library materials that have been received and are awaiting cataloging.
*Newly cataloged materials that are not yet shelved in the stacks.
*Although all newly cataloged books are listed in Franklin immediately, the New Books Plus feature is an easy way to search most books and journals added to the Penn Library in recent months.
* What is not in Franklin? *
* *
* *
*Some electronic journal titles. Please also search the PennText Article Finder and the E-Journals.

*Listings of individual conference papers, essays in collections. Franklin lists conference proceedings and collections of essays, but not the individual papers or essays.
* Some types of materials are only partially included in Franklin: *

*Government documents in microform (US, UN, UK, etc.; contact the Research and Instructional Services Department at the Van Pelt Library).
*Sound recordings on cassette tape or on LP (Use the card catalog in the Ormandy Music and Media Center).
*Materials in non-Roman alphabets (Use the Van Pelt Library card catalog).
*Some research collections in microform (Ask at Van Pelt Library Reference Desk).
