Call Number Search
Since 1968 Penn has used the Library of Congress classification system; LC call numbers start with letter codes. Before 1968 Penn used the Dewey Decimal classification system. Limits cannot be applied to call number searches.
* If you have a call number, you can search that number to locate the Franklin record for that book.

*You may also browse a specific topic by searching a class number. For example, searching the Library of Congress classification on business ethics produces a list of books from all the Penn Libraries (except Biddle), including High Density Storage, that have call numbers beginning with the same letter(s) and numbers. This allows you to browse the combined stacks of all the libraries at once.

z695.1 .g43 g46 1994a
* If a period is present anywhere else in the call number, it must be included in the search.

* In an LC call number, if more than one letter/number combination appears after the class number (Z695.1 below), called a "double cutter", you must leave a space before the second letter.
